Academic Excellence in a Caring Christian Environment

Glendale Christian School is a home for students to receive a Christ-centered education, focused on studies where Christ is preeminent and the Bible is the guiding authority. Serving Indian River County for over 25 years. We partner with parents to train, develop, nurture and uniquely instruct all students to their highest, God-given potential. Loving, dedicated, and qualified teachers instruct and challenge students to love God, apply biblical principles to their lives, and to become lifelong learners through an educational program defined by spiritual, academic and extracurricular excellence. Glendale Christian School is a ministry of Glendale Baptist Church.

Our curriculum provides students with the best possible program of studies, emphasizing mastery of the fundamentals necessary for satisfactory achievement. Historically, our students average well above national norms on achievement tests.

In addition to helping students acquire facts and understand concepts, we emphasize individual development and exercise of the powers of reasoning.
We believe the traditional system of education best educates the mind and builds good character, encouraging competition and promoting the value of a free enterprise economic system and representative government.

Our teaching methods are proven to be effective, and we constantly search for even better techniques. Realizing the difference in innate ability, we encourage and expect each student to perform to his maximum potential. Glendale will prepare your student to be an informed, discerning citizen who is solidly equipped with the knowledge to succeed in future academics, career, and life.

Overview

The K4 program provides a portion of the regular K5 program, so even four-year-olds learn to read at Glendale. Beginning with letters and sounds, students progress to reading words, sentences, and stories in their own reading books, which they take home and enjoy reading over and over.

Glendale’s outstanding kindergarten phonetic reading program provides an excellent foundation for a life-long love of reading. Five-year-old students learn to recognize and write the letters of the alphabet along with their sounds, and will actually begin reading by December! They also develop writing and arithmetic skills, learning to count by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s to 100 and other arithmetic facts.

The elementary educational curriculum is designed for the average student to achieve above-average excellence. Our students’ superior performance on standardized achievement tests demonstrates their academic success.

Glendale’s exceptional reading program has a strong, systematic phonetic approach which builds independent, confident reading. By the third grade, students can read most anything, and even lower ability students learn to read successfully. Additional academic pursuits include language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
